Why Woven?
Mia founded Consent Wizardry to serve their queer, trans, and disabled community with accessible consent education. Hannah founded her coffee company, Saffron Cowboy, as a love letter to her mixed Southern and Arab heritage. We recognized that the standard curriculum assumes access to capital, able-bodied stamina, and a relationship to risk that we and our students don't have. Entrepreneurs in our communities — queer, disabled, and BIPOC creatives — were getting business advice built for someone else's reality, so we built programming for our own.
Why us ? We're in the thick of it. Hannah sells coffee on weekends and is planning a coffee tour of the country. Mia runs bi-yearly consent trainings so others can teach consent to their communities. Our students see themselves in us, and they get current answers to current questions

Who is this program for?
2
Whether you want to start a business but don’t know yet what you want to do, or you’ve been running a business for a while and want to level up, there’s a place for you in this program. We’ll group you with other students based on where you’re at in the process.
This program is for creatives, artists, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and anyone aspiring to work for themselves.
Is this program a good fit for me?
3
If you feel stifled working for other people and want to feel freer to express yourself authentically and get paid well for work you love, we can help you figure out your business plan, what you do and don’t do, who your work is for, how to set rates, market yourself, and build your brand identity without crashing out.
If you run a business and you feel you’ve hit a wall, want to rebrand, need community support, want to feel more creative in your work, or just need some accountabilibuddies, we can help you figure out next steps while connecting you with business experts in finance, social media, content creation, marketing, strategy, and more to help you feel more confident putting yourself and your business out there.
If you feel like a jack of all trades and master of none, if you feel like you do too many things and they’re not related at all (they probably are!), if you feel like you’re supposed to choose just one career, goal, artistic medium, or idea and you want to feel like an integrated, whole person with a coherent and cohesive business who never gets bored, you’re gonna like it here.

What is Woven looking for in an applicant?
4
We want to help people whose work has beneficial community impact and is rooted in values of equity, diversity, and inclusion. We look for creatives who want to help others and make a difference in their communities, who want to create jobs, and who take care in making their work accessible. You might be a chef who wants to open a cafe, a therapist looking to start a private practice, or a muralist looking to teach kids to paint. As long as you’re giving back, we’re here for it.
Check out our Social Impact Business Guidelines on the What do we do? page to see if we share values and goals.
We encourage you to expand the definitions of both business and art. We think being an artist likely means you already run a business, and we believe that being a marine biologist can mean you’re an artist. We use these terms loosely and love to see others do the same.
Recordings will be available for cohort members after each session, but live attendance is required. We request no more than 2 absences (known ahead of time when applying) but we get that shit comes up and maybe you have to miss for a sweet, high paying gig!!
There is suggested homework between each class which includes additional resources such as podcasts, videos, and reading, as well as practice exercises, journaling prompts, and assignments like making a brand manual, marketing kit, writing your business manifesto, making your website, and more.
You’ll receive 1:1 support from Hannah and Mia throughout the program. You’ll schedule those sessions yourself and should come prepared with questions and any requested materials. 24 hours notice is required to cancel these.
You can expect to leave with a scaleable business structure that allows you to make more money without working more as your business grows. You’ll leave with a new community of entrepreneurs who will support you as you build your brand. Hannah and Mia offer continued mentorship beyond the 3-month container and will continue to be your community members. You’ll have a brand manual, year long marketing plan, mission statement, clear services offered, rates, and so much more!
